Before Jeremy Scott became the posterchild for adidas Originals bold fashion sen yeezy slides se, Japanese visionairy Yohji Yamamoto was breaking necks with Euro-inspired lifestyle sneaker designs to which the rest of the lifestyle sneaker market has still to catch. It s hard to argue he s anywhere but the peak of his powers when you see this newest adidas Y-3 design, one of many Yamamoto designs featuring nontraditional lacing. But we ve never seen the laces and basically the entire upper of a shoe covered in a shroud like the new Y-3 Nomad Star, a mix of velvety suede and grainy leather that transforms the classic Pro Model midtop silhouette beyond recognition. If you were to look at the name of this latest Three yeezy 350 Stripes drop and compare it to recent output from adidas Originals, a well-intentioned guess would have you imagining something entirely different.
